One-to-one educational mentoring is offered as part of a bespoke alternative education package for young people who are not in education or are on a part-time pastoral plan at our Green Fingers site during the day. The young people take part in educational and therapeutic-based activities such as gardening, cooking, creative arts, fishing, photography, wildlife activities, woodwork and general maintenance on the site to suit the needs of the individual. These sessions help to maintain the young person’s school or home placement and reintegrate the young person back into full-time education.
Referrals are made by social workers, carers, the Virtual School, Schools or other professionals. Referrals can be made by professionals working with Looked After Children or carers either by telephone or by email. To make a referral to the project, or to request further information then please contact us by clicking the link. You can also support the project by promoting Green Fingers to the young people and carers you are working with. If you want to come along and see the project in action then please give us a call to arrange a visit.
For schools to make a referral please contact us directly.
The minimum session time for educational mentoring is 2 hours. The maximum is a full day (9:30am – 2:30pm). The sessions are 1:1 with a minimum of 2 staff on site at all times.
PLEASE NOTE: There is a charge for these sessions which is currently £25 an hour.
