Our Fantastic Sizzling Summer Activities Programme
This year we had a fantastic array of summer activities on offer and all were well attended. In total 124 young people from Worcestershire accessed and enjoyed the activities. We had some new activities and visited new venues this year, one being a comic art workshop by artist Kev F Sutherland who works on The Beano and Dr Who comics amongst others. The young people learnt how to draw simple cartoon characters and their own comic strips. They also had their portrait drawn by Kev himself!
We went to the University for a drama (game) based workshop, the young people all excelled with confidence. We delivered a bushcraft survival day on our therapeutic site at Top Barn and a design day where the young people designed their own mugs, t-shirts, mosaic tiles and sun catchers. We also had a fantastic cooking lady who picked some produce from her own garden and we harvested some from our site to cook with, on our outdoor cooking day. The young people learnt step-by-step the safe preparing and handling of fresh vegetables and made pasta and flat breads from scratch. The food was delicious and enjoyed by all. We had our usual morning at Longbank with a new twist…a teddy bears picnic! We also went grass sledging and zip wiring where the young people had the chance to overcome their fears! We finished the summer with our annual bowling celebration.
