Let’s get Paddling Workshop
Over 30 young people attended the Let’s Get Paddling workshop over the Easter holidays. It was held on the river Severn in Fladbury on a typical April showers day. The bell boating session was led by five-time Olympic canoeist Andy Train who taught the young people basic bell boating skills. These skills will be recognised in an AQA certificate in ‘An Introduction to Canoeing’, covering safety, technique and being able to row a certain distance.
Let’s Get Cooking Workshop
We cooked up some healthy treats with our friends over at Red Hen Cookery School in Worcester where 24 young people were able to practice their cooking skills and learn handy tips. As well as learning about healthy eating, the young people also learned about food hygiene and health and safety in the kitchen. They were also able to cook a healthy two course meal consisting of lots of vegetables and fruit! All the young people who attended will gain an AQA Award in ‘Basic Kitchen Hygiene and Safety’.
