The young people are able to explore many different art forms, from pottery and illustration to painting and sculpture. They have also had the opportunity to work with talented local artists including award-winning illustrator David Webb, who was trained by Marvel!
The arts sessions have proved particularly effective in engaging and inspiring young people to be creative, with the oppurtunity to use the sessions as an expressive outlet in a therapeutic environment. It is great for the young people to be able to make friends in a safe and supervised environment which will help build the young people’s self-esteem and confidence.
This term we have looked at different artists and tried to recreate our own version, from still life painting and recycled art to sculpture and self-portraits. We are hoping to have enough art work to display at our end of term Christmas party.
The arts sessions run fortnightly on a Thursday evening 5:30 – 7pm.
“The arts sessions have given her the opportunity to gain confidence in an activity that she has really enjoyed and has helped to improve her self-esteem.” Social Worker
