During one of our educational mentoring sessions we discovered an injured Moorhen. After phoning a local rescue centre the young person accessing our educational mentoring session did some research about Moorhens and spent the afternoon digging for worms to feed it until the rescuer came and picked it up.
It was a rare, engaging opportunity for a young person to learn first-hand about the health and safety of finding injured wildlife and the procedures we should follow, as well as learning about a species of bird we have on our site.
