what a wonderful time the young people and carers had at this years Fun Day. Green Fingers were there as usual allowing young people and carers to learn how to pot and care for a pumpkin plant and then were given recipes on how to toast the seeds, bake a pumpkin pie or cook up a pumpkin soup. We also had a smoothie stall, where we had hidden ‘good for you greens’ in our lovely fruity smoothies. Everyone loved the smoothies and even the young people tried them with kale, spinach, cucumber and carrots as part of the ingredients. It was nice to see vegetables going down so well. Carers could also take recipes with them to repeat at home, and a few ideas on quick healthy breakfasts for those busy morning.
We would not have been able to do the smoothie tasting activity if it wasn’t for the supermarket Aldi, in Worcester town. A HUGE thank you to Aldi for supporting us on the Fun Day and donating all of the lovely fresh fruit and vegetables and for Sainsbury’s in St Johns Worcester for help to support the Fun Day too. It is always comforting seeing local communities work together.
